Avalon Community plans to provide Gigabit Internet Access
According to the Developer of Avalon, a mixed-use development planned in Alpharetta, the community will be the first such development to provide “Gigabit Internet” via fiber optic cable.
The technology, known as “fiber-to-the-premise”, or FTTP, provides access via fiber optic cable from an ISP to the home or business. FTTP provides Internet speeds between 10 and 300 Mbps, compared to the typical range of 1-6 Mbps – a dramatic increase in bandwidth and data speed.
Site work for Avalon is scheduled to begin January 28, according to the projects Facebook page. Phase One is to include 389,000 square feet of retail, 101 single-family units, 250 multi-family units, as well as over 80,000 square feet of office space.
